Explore painting through an expressive and intuitive approach to abstraction. 

In this guided workshop, participants will be introduced to a range of mixed media processes. We will explore expressive ways to lay down paint, experiment with mark-making tools, and create variety through different materials and techniques. The session will also introduce the key elements of art — such as line, colour, texture, and composition — as a way of building confidence when working abstractly. 

Using acrylic and mixed media, the workshop will focus on layering, texture, and gesture to develop an abstract piece. Participants will be encouraged to work freely, allowing the painting to evolve through experimentation and attention. 

The workshop includes short demonstrations to introduce different materials and approaches. Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience, this workshop offers a relaxed and supportive environment. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a finished artwork.

In this guided workshop, participants will be introduced to a range of textile processes. We will explore expressive ways of working with stitch, experiment with repetition and mark-making through thread, and create variety using different fabrics and materials. The session will also introduce key elements of art — such as line, texture, and composition — as a way of building confidence when working abstractly with textiles. 

Using simple hand-stitching techniques alongside layering and construction, the workshop will focus on building texture, rhythm, and form to create a small textile piece. Participants will be encouraged to work freely, allowing the piece to evolve through experimentation and attention. 

Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience, this workshop offers a relaxed and supportive environment. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a finished textile composition.
